Is TESOL the same as CELTA?

Both TESOL and CELTA are internationally recognised teaching qualifications that enable teachers to teach English to speakers of other languages. However, TESOL is a broad term that can refer to any qualification for teaching English, whereas CELTA is a specific type of qualification.

The terms TESOL, TEFL and CELTA are often used interchangeably because they all refer to qualifications that enable teachers to teach English to speakers of other languages. TESOL Course Features:

• Options to choose between face-to-face and online courses.
• Full-time courses are conducted from Monday to Friday, while part-time courses are conducted twice a week and on weekends (Saturday evenings).
• The in-house (onsite) classes give you an opportunity to interact with peers, get first-hand support, feedback, and deliver between 1-4 hours of observed teaching practice.
• Online CELTA will be taken through Zoom, where you will have the opportunity to interact with your fellow students and receive feedback on your progress.

What's Involved?

• There are input sessions, during which you learn classroom management, how to teach grammar, and other practical aspects of the course.
• Towards the end of the course, you will put this learning into practice by delivering lessons to students to apply lesson planning skills. The goal is to provide 6 hours of observed teaching practice.
• In addition to study hours, you should be able to set aside a little time that must be spent preparing materials and completing various assignments.
• During the course you will learn a little of another language using the same techniques as you will use to teach English, so you can experience how your learners feel and help you to design more effective lessons.
